Girls Night Out

Two pleated handbags shown, one large, one regularLast week I stepped out of the realm of comfort, and went as a featured guest at a Womens Gathering. First of all I was flattered that they would invite me, but most of all, I was honored at the opportunity to show my bags to new eyes.  It was so much fun pairing my bags with outfits and accessories from other lines and seeing how easily a quick change of accessories can change your look.  The coordinator had 3 models in basic outfits, and used bags, jewely and shoes to change the look based on their activities.

It was casual, and the ladies were so much fun! I have to admit I was a little nervous, wondering if I'd be able to pull it off, but in the end, I was challenged in a good way, and left that evening able to see my products from a whole new perspective. (a good thing, of course!)

I thought I'd share a few pictures of the night, but I have to apologize, the settings on my camera that night were perfect for up close still shots, but not so great for shots of the models. So I just showed the best ones I had :)

One of my favorite things

[gallery]

I I am always on the hunt for fun,unique items that make me smile every time I look at them.
Imagine my glee when I discovered wallets that were handmade and whose prints and designs make my heart skip a beat!

After checking out her sites, top to bottom I fell in love!  *innad* became my gift of choice, with my friend and mother in law both recieving one for christmas. And, much to my joy, Danni sent me one as MY christmas gift. Anyone jealous?!?! I asked Danni if she would mind if I "shared" her with my Gathered & Sown fans, and she happily agreed! So here is what I learned about the girl behind the genious....

       +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Danni has a bachelors degree in textile design from uw-madison. She's been a tailor for over 4 years, and sewing since the 6th grade. She says: "I find my inspiration in Frank Lloyd Wright, Bauhaus, Sanna Annukka, Sam Chivers, anything from Sweden, the 60's and 70's, the list goes on.  Basically anything with clean lines and rounded corners I will like.  Monochromatic color schemes are my best friend!

What is your favorite design?
"I get most excited about pattern.  I see it everywhere.  I especially like patterns that require some sort of cleverness in how it's put together, like tessellations.  (Have you ever seen the carpets in the hotel in the Shining?  AWESOME.) "

What is your favorite tool?
"I don't have a favorite tool because they are all my favorite. What I'm most obsessed with at the present time is my stack paper cutter.  I got it for Christmas and it can slice through a 1/2 inch of paper without hesitation.  It's a nerd thing.  Next item on my list is a corner rounder of the same caliber."

What is " *innad*"?
"*innad* wallets started for me when I couldn't find a wallet that would fit in my back pocket without giving me scoliosis.  So I started making my own.  I don't carry a purse because it's too much of a hassle, so I carry everything in my pockets.  Everything I need fits in the wallet, and it's flat so even though iI sit on it for hours every day, I never notice it's there.  And it looks cool, so it can't be beat!  A lot of people suggest to me "Oh, you should make a wallet with a bunch of dividers and a coin pocket and this and that", but that's not what *innad* is about.  It's about a quick, convenient, simple, great looking wallet.  I used to live by the mantra "fashion over function", but once I got sick of being inconvenienced by bad design, I started making things that were more logical.  *innad* it's a mix of both -fashion and function in perfect harmony.
